I was one of the lucky ones to meet Gary Vanderchuck and receive a free, autographed copy of his best-selling book, Crush It, when he was in town this past Friday and I already LOVE it What does any of this have to do with bargains? Well, one of the most valuable highlights for me this year has been the opportunity to hear first-hand this entrepreneurs genuine convictions on how the rules of modern business are being reinvented. He emphasizes that by leveraging the Internet, NOW is the PERFECT time to take your passions and turn them into a business and a job that you LOVE.
A few years back I remember being captivated by this, then, strangers presence; I tuned in one day to some morning show and saw Gary raving about different types of fine wine and just how to give them the "sniffy-sniff", and I recall how captivated I was by his intensity and pasion. The guy was on FIRE Gary had something extra-special about his persona that I just could not pinpoint, and in time I was fortunate to encounter him again, on Twitter, and came to see a much bigger picture.
Only after reading about the huge success he had gained via social media, did I then understand how, all along, this guy was "crushin it" You will see what I mean when you watch Gary's video on CNN, in which he shares basic social media principles. Gary is a very pivitol spokesperson for a new era of media and his RAW energy is contagious.
While building San Diego Bargain Mama R, more and more I am finding that loyal readers not only trust, but they identify with online personalities and brands in particular "niches". Unlike much of traditional media, these sites, blogs, directories, etc. are interactive, personalized, and often driven by ordinary peeps w/a deeply-rooted passion about something.
As SDBM is very soon to re-launch, its success will remain heavily dependant on our community of readers, contributors and bargain-lovers at heart. Over the past two years, between social media and word-of-mouth/mouse/mom, SDBM has positioned itself to be able to transition into a site that will offer a pluthera of regularly-updated deals, both online and offline. We invite your input, participation, insights, personal preferences, tips and more We cant wait to continue our mission to help moms and caretakers save time and money doing what they LOVE for LESS Thanks for hanging in there during the transitional process
BTW: SDBM has no business affiliation with Gary V. - just a groupie fan
