Tell us a little about yourself!

My name is Noël Ehlers, I’m a San Diego native, wife, working mom of three (two sons & a daughter). My website, www.momsggoinggreenblog.com, is an online community offering practical, everyday tips for families on the path to live a greener lifestyle. Focusing on ideas, recipes, what for’s and how to’s on greening your home and life.

How did you first get involved in with blogging?

I started blogging to connect, learn and share with other like minded parents.  I still blog for connection and a sense of community.

What do you find most challenging about blogging and do you have any tips for others who might be interested in doing the same?

Since I did not have a budget to hire a web designer, learning how to design my blog in WordPress was challenging. I was happy to discover YouTube as free resource for tutorials. Another budget friendly resource was Etsy.com. where I was able to purchase a customizable blog banner & social media avatar for a low cost. I would encourage anyone interested in blogging to reach out to other bloggers for tips and advice. Also look for blogger events & social media workshops you can participate in.

What contributions do want to be known for in the blogging community?

I hope I can provide a realistic take on how to make greener, healthy and ethical choices for ourselves and our families in a non-judgmental way.  I learn along with my readers and hope that our small steps together add up to a bigger impact collectively.

Have you found anything interesting or unexpected about blogging?

I learned it’s a great way to get involved and give back. I’ve found the support from readers, bloggers and green companies to be positive and encouraging. Everything that has come along with it has exceeded any expectations I might have had. Social Media provides opportunity to connect with busy parents where they spend time.

What do you hope to achieve from blogging?

I hope to use blogging for social good. As a platform to support families and businesses that live their values. Also to highlight causes that help people and the planet.

What is your favorite location in San Diego that you consider a real bargain?

Residents Free Tuesday at Balboa Park. Our family loves visiting the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, San Diego Natural History Museum, San Diego Museum of Man and more.

What is an interesting thing about you that people might not know?

For someone who shares so much online and lives quite socially I’m actually quite shy & introverted!

Most bloggers have a favorite favorite post. Which is yours and why?

I can’t think of specific post I’d call my least favorite. I’d say my first two months of blogging were me pushing information out until I became more comfortable having a two way conversation with readers.

What is your favorite time and/or money-saving tip?

I subscribe to the RSS feeds of my favorite blogs and deal websites. That way I don’t miss a deal, coupon or bargain!
