Each year during the first few weeks of back-to-school time I start thinking about the snacks and lunches that I will pack for the kids throughout the upcoming year. I bookmark posts of the bento-style lunch creations – you know the artistically-arranged, home-prepared meals served in multi-sectioned reusable containers that so many moms enthusiastically whip up! I start to have lunch box envy when I see all of the edible art you moms are whipping up!
While this year I have agreed to focus on adding more variety to the kids’ lunches for school, I can’t help but come to grips with the reality that I might just lose my mojo a week into that type of effort. I know myself, and I will likely default to packing leftovers (sandwich maker is great for sealing it all in!) or a hearty sandwich, some vege sticks, fruit, and the always welcomed bag of popchips! Sometimes, I’ll even throw in a treat! My girl wants sushi every now and then, and well….
OK, Why popchips?
The yum factor
I appreciate the various flavors and and crunchiness that the chips offer, and love grabbing them to have as a snack with a drink, or to along with packed lunches and picnics. popchips is one of those no-brainer choices in the chips department that I throw in the shopping basket, as my family loves the kid-friendly flavors available, which include original, barbeque potato, ranch tortilla, nacho tortilla and new katy’s kettle corn popchips (what a treat that suffices for dessert, even, I must add!). As a matter of fact, kid-tested and mother-approved, nacho tortilla popchips were recently voted the #1 crispy snack for kids by ivillage!
The guilt-free allure
The major plus for me is the guilt-free component: popchips are low in calories, price and are not greasy! popchips are never fried nor baked; they’re popped! They contain no preservatives, trans-fats, saturated-fats, fake colors or fake flavors. Compared to fried chips, popchips have half the fat, fewer calories and more chips per serving. plus, they’re certified kosher and gluten free making them a great lunch box snack that taste great and happen to be better for you.
