Comedy Night in San Diego- Therapy at the Right Price!

Sometimes we ladies forget about how much we and our men really need a good laugh. Personally, I LOVE live theater, but my husband doesn’t always appreciate it as much as I do. So, to mix it up last month we went to see some local comics perform. We haden’t laughed that hard in years. Sometimes the best medicine is laughter and at $10/person you can’t buy feel-good therapy at that price!

This got me thinking about all the alternative live theater out there in San Diego. After researching and interviewing my local contacts, I have come up with a respectable list of “Top Notch” places to see really great comedians AND an incredible improvisation group!!! Notice: The links you are about to open are not kid-friendly in case your kiddos are around!

The Comedy Store is the best-known stand-up comedy house located in La Jolla. Tickets cost $20 and there is a two-drink minimum. You can’t go wrong here, but there are alternatives to this well-known venue.

MikDago Productions is a new production company currently booking comedy shows at The Dirtbag Store in Pacific Beach. Up-and-coming comedian, Jon Allen, (email jacomedyshow@gmail.com with "Join Newsletter" in the subject line) knows his way around San Diego comedy and was excited to share with me this new production company and has been impressed with the quality of comics. Tickets generally cost between $10-$20. Again, very reasonable!!! Plus there is an after-party included with a complimentary drink!!! Oh yeah...I can feel the stress of life leaving my body right now.

Dat Phan is our local comedian gone BIG!!! In 2003 he won the title of “Last Comic Standing” and has been touring the country to sold-out crowds. Whenever he returns home, he brings together some of San Diego’s funniest comedians in “Dat Phan and Friends”. He can’t help himself; he just loves performing in his local hometown!!! Funny, funny, funny for $20/person!

The Hinges is an improvisation group, which performs sketch comedy made up on the spot. They have won the A-List “Best Theater Group” in San Diego three years in a row!!! For $10 a ticket…need I say more?

Get out there are and get some laughter therapy!!! Your hubby (or friend) will LOVE it and YOU will too!!!
