Pledge to Get Wild During National Parks & Recreation Month 2012!

San Diego Bargain Mama loves Parks and Recreation.July is National Parks & Recreation Month! This years theme is “Get Wild,” which encourages families to play outside and enjoy all the benefits of our local parks has to offer. Besides promoting healthy & active lifestyles, the campaign aims to promote enjoying nature and the environment of our local communities.

Not only did I and my siblings grow up utilizing our local Parks throughout Southern California, so have my own children!  From swimming classes, to recreational use during the school year, to summer camps and concerts, the Parks have enriched our lives greatly.

Check out the NRPA website where you can find a calendar of local events happening across the country, the official toolkit, opportunity to take the Get Wild Pledge, and information on the Get Wild Geocaching Contest. The Official took kit includes the 2012 official “Get Wild” Social Media Poster, a customizable calander & various graphics.

The Get wild Geo-caching Contest is a real-world contest, as the outdoor treasure-hunting games use GPS-enabled devices. If you explore local park areas and share your geocaching photos on Facebook, you will be automatically entered to win one of 5 Magellan GC eXplorist GPS Devices.

Visit the National Park & Recreation facebook page for more info, news and updates!
