Why Scientifically Speaking You Will Want to Attend SD Moms’ Night Out One Year Anniversary

Moms, caretakers and the like, I have a question: When was the last time you took off for some time with “the girls?” I always come home renewed after a ladies’ night out, and now I have even more insight as to part of the reason. I read a landmark study done at UCLA that shared women’s “tending or befriending” during times of stress (and while life is awesome, yes, stress is out there!) actually is a reaction to the oxytocin we released, which counters stress and produces a calming effect. This particular calming response does not occur in men, who have the testosterone thing working for them. This leaves us with the desire to care-take, relate with each other and tend to each other. OK, good to know - my blabbing is scientifically justified! And more recently….

I learned that a simple saliva test can show that our mood is enhanced - perfect excuse (I mean scientific justification!) that moms need ”girl time”! A landmark study by the University of Michigan in June 2009 identified a very likely reason why feeling emotionally close to a friend works wonders on a woman’s mood — and even boosts her health. Progesterone, like oxytocin, is considered a likely part of the neuroendocrine basis of social bonding in humans. All this in a saliva sample!

This is just one more reason why I feel so l great promoting SD Moms’ Night Out. The founders, Angela Quisumbing and Samantha Migdal are providing a great services for moms in San Diego that really do need time out from our routines to take advantage of some fun, networking, and pampering, while also networking and connecting with other like-minded moms of all walks and interests!
