Natural Baby Pros Presents: Empowered Birth Stories

It is no coincidence that I have been working part-time as an assistant for the founders of Natural Baby Pros, because the moment I met them,  (and this is years back) I was drawn to their passion for natural childbirth, breastfeeding, and nutrition and holistic alternatives for moms and moms-to-be.  I believe that in today’s fast-paced, fast food, fast everything society, we tend to embrace quick and easy alternatives, as well as ways to opt out of unpleasant practices and procedures, regardless of the great benefits they offer.  So many areas of motherhood, in my experience, offer such an opportunity to be one with nature and with time, but these precise areas are often too quickly dismissed, as there seems to be so much pressure to get back to our pleasure zones and comfort levels.

Granted, I have my views on several areas and am not completely a “crunchy mom,” (for example I am surely not against vaccinations and traditional medicine) but I most certainly have grown to appreciate and be drawn to the “empowerment” of motherhood, which encourages additions and alternatives to traditional medicine and practices. It is about choices! Like anything that gets BIG, so do the politics and big business surrounding methods that have become standard procedure, and not necessarily conducive to empowering mothers and growing families!

To have a conscious, intelligent community that questions and converses, shares and encourages a supportive network is all part of what encourages empowerment!  Something worth considering is the concept of “slow living.”  In her article, “Slow Birth,” midwife  Jennifer Summerfeldt challenges us to consider that in our world of quick fixes and fast everything, our society is more and more attracted to the concept of slowing down…with food, sex, our families and more.  This means being in touch with the process and being one with it, versus fearing it and rushing through it. The process invites a beautiful consciousness that is worth exploring and tapping into.

Empower Yourself – A Birth Story Event

Join Natural Baby Pros for an afternoon of inspiration as three women tell their birth stories about how their birth led them to feel more empowered in their own lives as women and mothers. They will be joined by an array of professionals from a variety of birth and holistic health fields to answer your questions and illuminate the possibilities in pregnancy and childbirth.  Their hope is that you will take the fear OUT of the equation for YOUR birth: get educated, feel supported, be inspired by what is possible.
