Time Out For Parents at The Marriot Gaslamp in San Diego!

If you are in search one of the most awesome top-notch downtown San Diego locations for a “staycation celebration”, look no farther than The Marriot Gaslamp. My husband and I recently stayed overnight at the chic hotel and encourage you to experience a blissful experience of your own making, as well! I am passionate when I say that if you want to live it up and take an overdue break from the kids, this is your place!
After a tour of the hotel, we took advantage of the most happening blocks in the historic Gaslamp (just two blocks from the San Diego Convention Center). We were impressed by the easy access to shopping at Horton Plaza and Seaport Village, as it is ideally located in the heart of downtown San Diego and adjacent to PETCO Park. We strolled around the Embarcadero and did some shopping and sightseeing, then hung out at PETCO Park, soaking in the lively energy that only downtown offers!
The blissful evening started out when we returned to our Junior Suite, which offered a lovely view overlooking PETCO Park. We were welcomed with an amazing spread, compliments of the hotel, which included cheese and fruit, wine, milk cookies.
We made sure, however, to save room for dinner at the hotel’s own Soleil @k, which turned out to be one of the most delicious meals we’ve ever had, and one of the best highlights of our stay (yes – that good!). I ordered the “Surikake Crusted Ahi” and my husband, the “Star Ranch Grass Fed Rib Eye”. Cotton candy with an edible flower arrives with the check (versus mints!), so leave a little room for a little sugar buzz! My mojito, you see below, was appropriately named, “Happy Ending”! The ambiance was impeccable and the service could not have been better. We returned for breakfast, as well, and I must be sure to recommend their delicious hashbrowns! Oh my…..
The Altitude Sky Lounge, just a button push and elevator ride up – thank goodness!) is clearly the most impressive outdoor bar I have been to, with fabulous service and breathtaking views of the ocean and PETCO Park. A 21-and over roof top bar, 22 stories above downtown, Altitude serves delicious appetizers and drinks and offers a very friendly, festive ambiance. We thought our daylight rooftop tour was out of this world; try going at night! Eye candy assumed – expect entertaining music (and a live DJ on Fridays), as well.
