The Merry Christmas Show: Watch the elf build a snowman, cookies dance out of the oven and more sugar sweet acts in this holiday variety show. Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theatre. Two shows: 10 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. Price: $4/$5.

Pinkalicious The Musical: This is the tale, based on the popular book by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann, of Pinkalicious, who can’t stop eating pink cupcakes. North Coast Repertory Theatre. 2 p.m. Price: $16/$20.


Poway WinterFest: Enjoy an ice skating rink, arts and crafts, kids’ karaoke and musical entertainment, and a snow hill for sledding. Poway Community Park. 4 p.m. (Also Dec. 15). Price: $5 ages 2-17; $7 ages 18+; $20 for family of four.

Christmas in the Village: Enjoy strolling minstrels, carolers and street entertainers, live music, horse drawn carriages, bonfire, carnival rides, puppet shows, and, of course, Santa! Downtown La Mesa. 5-10 p.m. (Also Dec. 15). Price: Free admission.

Holiday Open House: See the Navy’s best ships show off their holiday cheer through lights and decorations. On Pier 7, they will have a couple of ships available for tours along with a small holiday fair. Naval Base San Diego. 6:30-9 p.m. Price: Free.


Jungle Bells: A wild-animal twist on familiar holiday traditions with holiday-themed activities, nightly ceremonies, and opportunities to meet wintery animals up close. San Diego Zoo. Price: Included with admission.

Breakfast with Santa: Enjoy breakfast, face painting, arts and crafts, caroling and pictures with Santa. Fallbrook Community Center. 8-10:30 a.m. Price: $5/$4 plus $3/picture with Santa.


Breakfast with Santa: Activities include an “all you can eat” pancake breakfast, caroling, and a special visit with Santa. Spring Valley Community Center. 9-11 a.m. Price: $4/$5.Fantasy on Ice: Experience ice skating in the heart of San Diego! Horton Square. 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Price: $12/$14.Gingerbread Boy Puppet Show: This annual puppet show with special treats, followed by a visit from the Jolly Man! Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library. 10:30-11:30 a.m. Price: Free.Cookies with Claus: Bring a new and unwrapped toy to donate and enjoy decorating cookies and making crafts with Santa Claus himself! Benefits Rady Children’s Hospital. Westfield Parkway Plaza. 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Price: New, unwrapped toy.

Model Railroad Open House: Head on over to the San Diego S-Gaugers clubhouse to see their model model railroads. San Diego S-Gauge Model Railroad Clubhouse. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Price: Free.

The Nutcracker: West Coast Ballet Theater’s production of The Nutcracker is a family-oriented performance capturing the magic and wonder of Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet. California Center for the Arts, Escondido. 1 p.m. Price: $12-$39.

Holiday in the Park: Live performances, caroling around the fire, music, dancing, and more. Enjoy special holiday treats, activities, and extended shopping hours. Old Town San Diego. 5-9 p.m. Price: Free Admission.


Sailor’s Days: Scavenger hunt with prize, make brass rubbings, ferryboat steam engine demos, and more. Maritime Museum of San Diego. 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Price: Included with admission $8-$15.

Guided Nature Walks: Guided nature walk from the Visitor Center to learn about the history, geology, plants, animals and ecology of the park. Mission Trails Regional Park. 9:30-11 a.m. Price: Free.

Sunny and Angel Save Christmas: Featuring a holiday story time, a special tour of the Center, interactive time with barn animals, holiday treats and goodies, play with “faux” snow and other holiday crafts, a personalized letter from Santa, Santa pictures, and a commemorative photo and gift. Helen Woodward Animal Center. 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Price: $22/child; $9/adult.

Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas: Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! is a wonderful, whimsical musical based upon the classic Dr. Seuss book. Old Globe Theatre. Shows: 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m. Price: Ticket prices start at $39 for adults and $24 for children (17 years and under).

Family Sunday: Children and families can explore their colorful exhibitions of folk art, craft and design, and win a prize for completing the Treasure Hunt! Mingei International Museum. 12-4 p.m. Price: $5/family; $3/individual.

Las Posadas: Featuring carolers, children’s choir, a pinata party, and a live theatrical procession reenacting the Biblical journey of Mary and Joseph through the town of Bethlehem. Old Town San Diego. 2-6 p.m. Price: Free.

San Diego Bay Parade of Lights: Boats decorated for the holiday season sail San Diego Bay. 5:30-7:30 p.m. Price: Free.

Christmas Caroling: Enjoy an evening of caroling and an old-fashioned sing-along! Mt. Helix Park. 6:30-8 p.m. Price: Free.
