Hi Bargain Mamas!  Did you get a chance during this busy holiday season to read “My $100 for the Week Whole Foods Market Challenge!“?  Having written my post, “Contemplating the Value of Buying Organic Food“, I was really educated about the choices we have as consumers and have made some really conscientious moves in my shopping habits – much prompted to my few recent trips to Whole Foods.  Surely change is a process, and since I am in charge of the grocery shopping and meal cooking (primarily), I want to make healthful and wise choices for my family!

  1. I love Whole Foods. I really like their meat and cheese section. If I won, I probably would buy some amazing cheese and organic meat. Their deli section rocks too! So much to choose from!

  2. I’d stock up on some pantry essentials- organic canned goods, squeezie pouches for the little guy, and some of the yummy olives from the olive bar!

  3. We’d purchase as much meat as we could. Love their ground beef but it adds up quick when you’re on a budget! :)

  4. I’d buy delicious cheeses, fresh baked bread and some other snacks to share with my husband for our NYE party of two.

  5. I like to adventure through the aisles at Whole Foods. I would try something from each department (or almost all)! A new organic fruit or vegetable, a new fish I haven’t tried, a new cheese, a new organic juice, a gourmet cofee!!!!!

  6. I would like to learn about their special cheeses. I’ve taken a couple of classes there on cheese, and I would like to learn more and make up a great holiday platter and tell everyone about the cheeses. Also get some of the delicous crackers and jams to go with the cheese, and I would make sure I talk to the head honcho cheesemonger there who is very knowledgeable.

  7. First I would eat lunch there! Then I would get party food for the football game party. Cheese and crackers and carne asada and and and and

  8. Would love to get a bunch of holiday treats and of course some of our regular food shopping too.

  9. I would splurge on a bag of cacao, macadamia nuts, dried mango some decadent body lotions and one of those cute cow hats for my little guy. All the things I don’t buy now in our budget would love to enjoy. Thanks. Tweeted!

  10. I would cherish the opportunity to buy the beautiful organic fruits that I’ve been noticing – and go all out! Yesterday I saw Buddha’s hands(to make candied citron), organic pineapples, persimmons, apples many kinds for bowls for centerpieces, Satsumas, Clementines, organic grapes! I noticed organic brussel sprouts on sale and just saw a great recipe for brussel sprout chips! I’d luxuriate in buying chanterelle mushrooms to make my holiday recipes chef-worthy!! I could go on, but I know I’d have a hard time stopping at $100!!! But it would be soooooooo fun!!!

  11. Wow! How gracious! I would get Christmas dinner and dessert ingredients for my family.

    My parents sold their home of 40 years and moved in with us this past February. They made the move so that they could live in Toronto 1/2 the year to live with my sister’s family, and San Diego 1/2 the year with us.

    While they’ve been staying with us, we have also been leaning towards more plant based foods to help them get in better health – by doing this dad has kicked the prediabetic meds out the window mom has been watching her salt and cholesterol intake since her heart attack in 2010.

    This year my parents are in town for Christmas for the first time in 4 years since my nephew was born, I would love to splurge on a healthy dinner at Whole Foods for them to celebrate their health success, their big move, and their first Christmas in San Diego!

  12. I would buy a whole fridge full of groceries in order to fulfill my new years resolution to be healthier

  13. I would make a gift basket for a relative who has bad food habits, fill it with healthy & yummy foods, so that they can see how easy and cost effective it is to eat healthy!

  14. I would luv to go all out with their cosmetics! I try their samples, but can’t afford it. Also, our local store has a sale on candles, etc. I would luv to treat myself (for a change)!!!!
